The Queensland Boulder Opal Association Inc. (QBOA) is an industry body founded in Winton in 1992 that represents opal miners and other industry members. It organizes activities in Winton including the annual Queen of Gems Jewellery Design Awards (entries displayed at the Waltzing Matilda Centre Art Gallery) and is involved with the Winton Opal Festival, a 2-day event held on Elderslie Street in July showcasing boulder opal. QBOA advocates to legislative and regulatory bodies and supports promotion of Queensland boulder opal.
